Biometrika was founded in 1901 by Karl Pearson, Francis Galton and Raphael Weldon, with Karl Pearson as its first editor. Galton's and Pearson's interest in biometrics stemmed at least in part from their enthusiasm for eugenics. More information on this early history can be found here.
Though Biometrika was established in 1901, the Biometrika Trust was set up as a trust in 1935 and has been governed by a board of Trustees ever since. This board of trustees contains a wide variety of prominent people from both academic and industry backgrounds. A complete list of trustees and their terms can be found below.
The Biometrika Trust believes that inclusivity is a key component in facilitating an outstanding research environment. As such, the Biometrika Trust is committed to supporting researchers of all backgrounds.
